Tottenham face competition from an unnamed English club for the signature of forward Clinton Njie.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulus said earlier in the week that an agreement to take the player to White Hart Lane was close, but he now says a second club have entered the running.
“The deal for Njie isn’t complete. A proposition from another fasionable English club has complicated things,” he told RTL.
Aulus’ comments will be of discomfort to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino who is desperate for attacking reinforcements.
The Argentinian has allowed Spanish striker Roberto Soldado to join Villareal, whilst Emmanuel Adebayor is also destined for the exit door.
Yesterday, Pochettino confirmed the the Togo international still isn’t a part of his plans, despite a loan move to Aston Villa collapsing.
It is thought the 31-year-old declined a move to Villa Park over wages, and now has his heart set on a short move across London to West Ham.
