Ashley Young will reject a move to Tottenham and sign a new contract at Manchester United.
According to TalkSport, Mauricio Pochettino had turned his attention to the England winger after Crystal Palace placed an extortinate price tag on the head of Yannick Bolasie, but Young will extend his contract at Old Trafford which is due to end next summer.
After an impressive second half of the season – in which he kept record signing Angel Di Maria out of the United team for large parts – Louis van Gaal is unlikely to even want to discuss the idea of letting the 30-year-old leave the North-West and will be pleased with Young’s committment to the club.
It remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy will now go ahead and sanction a £20m-plus move for Bolasie, or whether the club’s attention will turn elsewhere.
Alternatively, Pochettino could be set to try American DeAndre Yedlin in a more advanced wide position, where he has featured for the national team.
