Grant Ward has officially joined the Millers on loan following an impressive trail where he managed to get on the score sheet against Parkgate FC and Stocksbridge.
Coventry City were keen to re-sign the midfielder after an impressive loan-spell which took place towards the end of the 2014/15 season. Ward decided to make a move to Rotherham United instead after training with the side during pre-season.
The 20-year-old had been linked with Tony Mowbray’s side for a number of weeks but the challenge of the Championship caught the attention of Ward as he continues to improve his development in order to break into the Tottenham first team.
Ward previously played for Chicago Fire in the 2014 MLS season where he scored once in 23 appearances during another loan spell away from parent club, Tottenham Hotspur.
Millers’ boss, Steve Evans spoke to the clubs website and said, “I was delighted when he informed me that he has chosen us versus several Championship options.”
Evans went onto add: “Grant has a big career in front of him and he now has the opportunity to make steps up the ladder with a successful loan spell.“
