Player Profile – Joshua Onomah

Name: Joshua Onomah

Age: 18

Date of Birth: 27th April 1997

Place of Birth: Enfield, England

Position: Midfield

National Team: England U16, U17 & U18

Up and coming star, Joshua Onomah has been linked with big clubs including Liverpool and Chelsea according to The Daily Star.

The 18-year-old can play in both an attacking and defensive midfield role.

Onomah captained the Spurs development squad during their FA Youth Cup run where they reached the semi-finals during the 2014-15 season. The midfielder was a regular for the Tottenham Under-21s last season and made his first team debut against Burnley in the FA Cup third round replay in January, 2015.

The England U18 has made a number of appearances on the first team bench over the past season and also toured with the first team on trips to Australia and Malaysia during pre-season. He was part of the Young Lions side who won the 2014 European Under-17 Championships in Malta.

According to a number of newspapers including the Daily Star and the Mirror, Onomah was offered a new deal by Spurs in order to keep Liverpool away from signing the English wonderkid.

Aston Villa manager and former Spurs man, Tim Sherwood is said to also be keen to get his hands on the Enfield born midfielder with a loan deal to boost The Villains’ midfield force.

Spurs say they will not sell the highly rated midfielder as he is seen to be a key member of their future squad. Onomah will also qualify as a home grown player when he is selected for the Premier League squad in the future despite having Ghanaian roots.
