Spurs Dealt Lloris Blow

Tottenham’s goalkeeping sensation Hugo Lloris could be set to miss the start of the Premier League season, having fractured his wrist during the summer.

The North London side face Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United on August 8th, at Old Trafford, but 28-year-old Lloris could be set to miss out on the game, with Michel Vorm the only senior replacement the club currently have on offer.

Lloris has been heavily linked with a move away from the club and was touted as a replacement for David de Gea at United, but with the Spaniard likely to stay at the club for at least one more season, it appears interest in Lloris may not remain quite as firm.

As Lloris returned to training for pre-season, it was confirmed by the club that the Frenchman had injured himself and is now set for a race against time to be ready for the first game of the new season.

On the club website, a statement read: “The club can confirm that Hugo Lloris has sustained a fractured wrist during the close season period.

“The France goalkeeper will continue to work alongside the first-team squad to build up his fitness in a bid to be ready for the start of the season.

“Our medical team will continue to monitor his rehabilitation and progress during pre-season.”

French national side captain Lloris is likely to miss all of Spurs’ pre-season fixtures, which includes a visit to Germany to take part in the Audi Cup against Real Madrid and either AC Milan or German giants Bayern Munich.
