Tottenham fans will love Richarlison’s reaction to Arsenal’s Champions League defeat

Tottenham Hotspur fans can always rely on Richarlison’s unadulterated pettiness when it comes to the north London rivalry. The Brazilian forward has wasted absolutely no time in rubbing salt into Arsenal’s gaping wounds.

Last Saturday night, the Gunners suffered an agonising defeat in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. Mikel Arteta’s men looked to be on the cusp of a historic European triumph in Budapest after Kai Havertz handed them an early lead.

However, a second-half penalty from Ousmane Dembele dragged the match into extra time, forcing a tense penalty shootout after a 1-1 deadlock. Cruel misses from Eberechi Eze and central defender Gabriel Magalhaes ultimately sealed Arsenal’s fate, handing PSG a 4-3 victory on penalties and leaving Arteta’s side heartbroken.

Richarlison laughs at Arsenal

As Arsenal players collapsed to the turf in despair, Richarlison was quick to compound their misery. The Spurs striker immediately took to his Instagram story to post a popular meme of a young boy sobbing uncontrollably before suddenly bursting into hysterical laughter.

The post was a direct jab at Spurs’ North London rivals and served as the latest chapter in Richarlison’s ongoing, highly personal social media feud with his international teammate Gabriel. The pair have frequently traded blows on Instagram over the last two seasons.

Typical Richarlison

The Spurs man undeniably claimed the last laugh on the weekend. While the club’s fans have endured a stressful domestic campaign themselves, seeing their star striker openly mock the collapse of their bitter rivals is hard not to admire.

It is exactly the kind of unapologetic, fan-centric banter that makes Richarlison a cult hero among the Lilywhites faithful. Even when things are tough, the Brazilian knows exactly how to put a smile back on the faces of the Tottenham support.
