White Hart Lane has had the pleasure of watching some fabulous players represent Tottenham over the course of their history, and especially those who can find the back of the net.
While the Lilywhites are going through a period of trouble, just a few years ago, they had one of the best forward lines in the Premier League, led by Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.
Spurs came close to winning some major honours, and much of that was down to the work of those two, who couldn’t stop scoring goals.
So, here is a look at the club’s Top 10 goalscorers of all time.
5th – Martin Chivers: 1968-1976
He was brought to White Hart Lane for a club record fee of £125,000 from Southampton, where he came through the ranks of their academy to the first team. He was a key player in a successful Spurs team in the early 70s which won the UEFA Cup in the first year of the competition.
His goals also led the Lilywhites to another European final in 1974, where they would lose to Dutch giants Feyenoord in a two-legged final, before leaving the club in 1976 to join Swiss side Servette. Chivers passed away earlier this year, aged 80.
4th – Heung-min Son: 2015-2025
The South Korean international joined Spurs at a period when the club were building something special under Mauricio Pochettino. He quickly became loved by the fans for his attitude on the pitch, whilst also being one of the greatest players to wear the white shirt.
He won the Puskas award, multiple Premier League player of the month awards, and a golden boot in 2022, as he scored 23 times in the league.
His numbers dwindled in later years, but he captained Spurs to Europa League victory in 2025, which was his first title. A fitting way to see a legend leave.
3rd – Bobby Smith: 1955-1964
Smith came through Chelsea’s academy, but became a legend at White Hart Lane due to his goalscoring prowess, which made Spurs one of the best teams in England at the time.
In the 1960-61 campaign, the Lilywhites became the first team to win the double, and Smith scored 33 goals that year.
He helped the team win the FA Cup the following year, as well as the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1963, as Smith scored in the second leg of their semi-final tie against OFK Beograd.
2nd – Jimmy Greaves: 1961-1970
One of England’s greatest strikers of all time was another member of a team that won the European Cup Winners’ Cup and two FA Cups.
He joined Spurs from AC Milan in a deal which cost £99,999, to avoid the pressure of being the first £100,000 footballer, but pressure rarely affected Greaves.
He had the attributes to make him one of the best forwards around in any generation, but he made the 60s wonderful for any Tottenham supporter.
He was the First Division’s top scorer on six separate occasions and held the record as the club’s top scorer for over half a century.
1st – Harry Kane: 2010-2023
A modern-day icon not just for Spurs, but for English football.
He broke many records while playing for the North London outfit, and in a time where it was difficult to see a path for him, he made it happen on his own, taking the No 9 position off club record signing Roberto Soldado.
| Rank | Player | Goals | Appearances |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Harry Kane | 280 | 435 |
| 2 | Jimmy Greaves | 266 | 376 |
| 3 | Bobby Smith | 211 | 316 |
| 4 | Heung-min Son | 173 | 454 |
| 5 | Martin Chivers | 167 | 350 |
| 6 | Cliff Jones | 159 | 377 |
| 7 | Jermain Defoe | 143 | 363 |
| 8 | Alan Gilzean | 129 | 425 |
| 9 | Teddy Sheringham | 125 | 277 |
| 10 | Robbie Keane | 122 | 306 |
The highest scoring English player in the Champions League, the Premier League’s second highest scorer of all time and the club’s top scorer of all time.
A man for the big occasion, which makes it even harder to believe he never won a trophy at the club, but it doesn’t deny Kane from being one of, if not the greatest, player to ever play at White Hart Lane.
