At a glance:
- Teddy Sheringham has sent Tottenham a stern warning
- He said they will get relegated if they lose to Wolves
- Wolves have already been relegated
Tottenham Hotspur will face Wolves at Molineux on Saturday in perhaps their last opportunity to muster up a survival battle.
With just five games remaining, they are two points behind West Ham and eight behind Nottingham Forest, who have played one more game. If they lose against Wolves and West Ham get a result against Everton, Tottenham’s relegation would most likely be confirmed.
Spurs haven’t beaten Wolves since August 2022, and their last win at Molineux came in 2021. However, they must break this streak on Saturday.
Teddy Sheringham asserts that Tottenham must beat Wolves
There is just one relegation spot remaining in the Premier League after Wolves and Burnley’s drops were confirmed. Tottenham are desperately hoping to avoid being in that spot, and it must begin on Saturday.
Teddy Sheringham has asserted that if they can’t beat an already-relegated Wolves, Spurs deserve to go down. He said on talkSPORT:
“Without a doubt, I mean, if they lose to Wolves tomorrow, uh, his curtains. I mean, you don’t deserve to stay up if you lose to the team that have already been relegated.”
“I know people do loosen up when they’ve been relegated, and you get funny results with that, but Tottenham have got to approach the game in the right manner.
“If they approach it in the same manner that they played against Brighton last week, and the attitude, and the understanding of what their manager wants, and carrying it out to the letter of the law, then, hopefully, it will be a good result for Tottenham,” he added.

Wolves almost beat Tottenham earlier this season when they hadn’t won a single game as well. However, a Joao Palhinha goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time secured a 1-1 draw for Spurs at home.
A look at Tottenham’s remaining games
Among the three relegation candidates, Tottenham’s fixtures appear to lie somewhere in the middle, on paper. They appear to have better games than Nottingham Forest, but similar to West Ham.
However, they haven’t won a single game in 2026, and hence, on-paper strength doesn’t mean much.
After Wolves, Spurs will face Aston Villa away. Unai Emery’s side, however, will have their Europa League semi-finals against Nottingham Forest on either side of the fixture.
Hence, Tottenham will hope that Villa can rest some players ahead of their Premier League meeting.

The north London side will then host Leeds United, before facing rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. They will end the season at home against Everton.
Ideally, Spurs would need to beat Wolves, win their remaining home games, and get at least a draw from Villa and Chelsea to stay up.
