Tony Cascarino lauds ‘incredible’ Tottenham player and predicts whether they can beat Wolves

Tottenham face an uphill battle to avoid relegation with just five Premier League games to go.

They are just a point below 17th-placed West Ham United, but if the Hammers beat Crystal Palace later today, the gap could be extended to four.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are clearly in a spot of bother. However, they showed some encouraging signs against Brighton to secure a 2-2 draw.

They face Wolves next weekend, which is a must-win game if there ever was one.

And Tony Cascarino feels the North London side have enough to get three points on the board.

Tottenham tipped to beat Wolves

Tottenham are winless in the Premier League in 2026. In fact, their last win in the competition was back in December 2025 against Crystal Palace.

De Zerbi’s arrival has breathed new life into the club, but they’ve picked up just one point from two league games under the Italian.

Cascarino, however, feels Tottenham have improved under De Zerbi. He singled out Xavi Simons for special praise, adding that they can beat Wolves if they perform as they did against Brighton.

“There were a lot of positives to take out of the performance from Tottenham vs Brighton,” said Cascarino via talkSPORT.

“Simons coming in, who gave an incredible performance. There were a lot of good things. It’ll be tough, but of course, they can beat Wolves.

“If they have the same energy as Brighton, they’ll beat Wolves. If you put the same power, determination, and energy, Tottenham will beat Wolves.”

Current relegation reality

Morgan Gibbs-White’s hat-trick gave Nottingham Forest a commanding win against Burnley yesterday. And now, Tottenham are five points adrift of Vitor Pereira’s side, who have found form in recent weeks.

As we mentioned earlier, a win for West Ham later today could be a hammer blow for Tottenham.

Considering their Premier League form in 2026, the Lilywhites don’t have their destiny in their own hands and need teams around them to drop points.

However, the only thing they can do in the meantime is to get points on the board. Brighton was a good start, but it’s time for De Zerbi and his players to walk the walk and deliver the goods against a side that is rock bottom in the Premier League.
