Tottenham take on Brighton later today at home in what could be a pivotal moment in the club’s history.
The clash against the Seagulls has quickly become a must-win game for Roberto De Zerbi, especially with teams around them starting to pick up points.
The Lilywhites are two points below 17th-placed West Ham United and three below Nottingham Forest, so anything less than three points tonight will not be helpful.
And now, just a few hours ahead of kick-off, Tim Sherwood feels it’s curtains for Tottenham if they fail to win tonight.
Brighton game a must-win for Tottenham
In his pre-match press conference, De Zerbi said Tottenham need just one win to recapture their mojo.

However, at this point in time, it looks easier said than done. They haven’t won a Premier League game in 2026 and looked comfortably second best against Sunderland after a good performance in the first 15 minutes.
Sherwood doubled down on the Italian’s claim that his former team need just one win, although he added that if they fail to beat Brighton, they are certain to go down.
“I absolutely agree with De Zerbi when he said it’s about one win,” said Sherwood on Sky Sports.
“That one win has to come tonight. If that doesn’t come tonight, Tottenham will get relegated from the Premier League.
“They have to win tonight and they will bounce into Wolves and roll them over. All of a sudden, if the players get a shot in the arm, they become different players. Confidence is a different thing.”
State of play in the relegation battle this week
Nottingham Forest take on Burnley at the City Ground tomorrow, while West Ham United travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Leeds United are six points clear of the drop, but they aren’t mathematically safe.
Daniel Farke’s side are currently locking horns with 20th-placed Wolves as they look to go further clear of the relegation zone.
If Tottenham get the job done tonight, they’ll have one eye on Forest and West Ham United’s fixtures. De Zerbi’s side have no time to waste, though, as things will get really, really difficult for them if they lose today.
