Tottenham Hotspur have gone over 105 days without a Premier League win, having not managed even one in calendar year 2026.
The north London side have had three managers since their last league win on December 28. They sacked Thomas Frank in February, parted ways with Igor Tudor last month, and appointed Roberto De Zerbi. With the Italian’s first game ending in a 1-0 defeat against Sunderland, Tottenham are winless in 14 league games!
While Burnley and Wolves are below them in the table, Spurs are arguably the worst-performing side in the league. This has also been in the making for a long time, as detailed by Peter Crouch.
Peter Crouch explains how Tottenham ended up in the relegation zone
Spurs were in the UEFA Champions League final in 2019. Seven years later, they are in the Premier League relegation zone. Now, seven years is a long time in football, but numerous decisions by the club’s hierarchy have led to this dire situation.
One of the biggest issues at Tottenham over the years has been poor recruitment. Ange Postecoglou highlighted it on the Stick To Football podcast earlier this year. Peter Crouch has backed him, saying on Ben Foster’s podcast:
“They’ve not recruited well. They spent a lot of money, like, you know, obviously, Ange Postecoglou talked on the podcast recently about the players that you wanted and the players they gave him, right?
“And I think that’s not just happened, that’s happened with a lot of managers. Mourinho, Conte said the same thing. Nuno, these aren’t bad managers. Mourinho, you know, they’ve all struggled, and they’ve all probably not got the players that they wanted.”
He added:
“Now it’s culminated in what’s happening there now. And I think they will [get relegated]. Statistically, they’re the worst team in the league, at the moment, at the wrong time of the season.”

Crouch also highlighted Tottenham’s injury issues and suggested that their best players are out, while the players available aren’t as good as many claim.
Tottenham hierarchy must be sacked in the summer
Regardless of whether Tottenham avoid relegation or not, Sporting Director Johan Lange and Chief Executive Vinai Venkatesham must leave the club this summer. The duo not only managed to ruin any momentum the club gained from the Europa League triumph but also pushed them into relegation.
Sacking Postecoglou was already a catastrophic decision, but to hire Thomas Frank made it even worse. They then chose not to sack Frank despite his terrible performances and results since October, with no signs of improvement. They then failed to sign players in January, claiming that they didn’t want to panic.

All these decisions and many more see Tottenham on the verge of relegation from the Premier League for the first time in their history.
Spurs now need a major rebuild in the hierarchy. While the club’s owners need to sell as soon as possible, it must start with Lange and Venkatesham’s exit this summer.
