Tottenham close in on move for Ryan Sessegnon – he’d be a great signing

Tottenham have supposedly had an eye on Ryan Sessegnon for at least two years now, but with less than two days to go in the transfer window, it looks like they will finally sign him.

Sky Sports are reporting that an agreement with Fulham is close – and Sessegnon will finally move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

At just 19 the London-born player has a long and exciting career ahead of him – and what better place to develop as a footballer than under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine has established a reputation for developing payers and making them better – so Sessegnon would be in the right place to fulfil his undoubted potential.

Last season was tough for the 19-year-old – as his side struggled all season badly and they were ultimately relegated.

Playing in a team lacking confidence meant that Sessegnon could not show what he was capable of doing – though he did manage to score twice and provide six assists.

In 2017/18 Sessegnon won the Championship Player of the Year – as he scored a superb 16 goals and provided a further eight assists.

It is this form that Pochettino should be able to coax out of him – and that is why he would be a great addition for Spurs.

Another reason is that he can play anywhere on the left-hand side – having made 48 appearances as a left-back 42 appearances as a left-midfielder and 20 appearances as a left-winger.

This versatility and his pure pace would him make him a great asset to Pochettino’s side.

If Tottenham do finally sign Sessegnon, then they may well have one of England’s most exceptional young talents in their squad.
