Barcelona midfielder and reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Malcom could now hand in a transfer request to force a move away – but would he be a good signing for the north London club?

TEAMtalk cite Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo in writing that the transfer request could also give hope to Arsenal, who hold a similar interest in the player.

Malcom tends to operate on the right wing, where he impressed for Bordeaux before earning a €41m move to the Nou Camp last summer.

The 22-year-old possess excellent pace and dribbling skills, a combination that is enough to worry any defender in the Premier League.

He also has the ability to produce a moment of magic from nowhere, scoring five goals from outside of the penalty area in 2017/18 and is also capable of laying on assists for his team-mates.

Furthermore, his well-built frame gives him significant strength and the ability to ride tackles, a trait that may come in handy should defenders look to try and target him.

Signing the Brazilian would provide valuable competition for Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min, who are currently the favoured options out wide for Mauricio Pochettino.

Should the north London club lose Christian Eriksen to Real Madrid it would also allow on to move inside if need be, with Malcom switching to the left flank.

With Spurs looking to establish themselves as one of Europe’s top clubs, the fact that the winger only managed six La Liga starts under Ernesto Valverde may worry club bosses.

However, with Barca reportedly willing to sell for €40m (£35.6m), the Brazilian would be a good addition to Pochettino’s growing squad of talented, young players who can take the club forward for years to come.
