Liverpool were clinical in the first half and capitalised on Roberto Firmino’s first half-chance after wriggling between Spurs’ back three.
The visitors came back into the game after going behind and were the better side going into the break.
Spurs scored a deserved equaliser through Lucas Moura and continued to trouble Liverpool with quick, sharp passes for the majority of the second half.
However, Toby Alderweireld converted into his own net in added time after Hugo Lloris failed to deal with Mohamed Salah’s header.
After letting this game slip from their grasp, Spurs have allowed themselves to fall deeper and deeper into the battle for the top four and must take the positives from this game into their next match against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
