What a night that was for Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League! After a scrappy first half with a handful of good chances for both teams it was anyone’s game going into the second half.
Jadon Sancho and co. were most certainly difficult to deal with in the first half; by targeting the right hand side they took advantage of Jan Vertonghen’s lack of pace. But despite his wing-back role he dealt with the Dortmund attack well along side Alderweireld.
Dortmund dropped off in the second half and found it much more difficult to build up any play in the opposition’s half, likely due to Eriksen dropping into a midfield three at times with Winks and Sissoko. This allowed Tottenham’s wing-backs to be much more effective going forward with pin point crossing and quick one touch football with Eriksen in the centre of the park.
