Rangers manager Mark Warburton says he would love to take young midfielder Alex Pritchard on loan.
The 22-year-old had a successful loan spell under the leadership of Warburton at Brentford last year, and the former Bees boss has said he would jump at the opportunity of bringing him to Ibrox for the coming season.
He conceded, however, that it is likely the player will be playing at a much higher level than what Rangers would offer, with Norwich City supposedly interesting in taking the player on a temporary basis.
“I would love to take Alex Pritchard on loan, but I think Alex Pritchard will be playing at a much higher level,” he told a press conference on Friday.
“He’s ready for Premier League football, the loan market has been used tremendously well by Spurs. He will be a top player.”
Pritchard made 45 appearances for the Griffin Park club last season, scoring 12 goals, and his form was enough to earn a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the summer’s UEFA U21 European Championships.
He missed most of the tournament due to injury, however, but looks set for a bright future at White Hart Lane having signed a new five-year contract earlier in the month.
