Tottenham Hotspur are trying to sign Dynamo Moscow striker Alexander Kokorin – according to the player’s agent.
The striker had previously been linked with a move to Russian rivals Zenit St Petersburg, but the player’s representative has told Tass that Mauricio Pochettino is now holding talks regarding a move.
Said representative also claims there to be ‘fair reason’ in thinking that Kokorin would move to England this month, with Manchester United also supposedly interested.
A source within Dynamo has confirmed the reports and added that the club would rather see Kokorin move to England than a domestic rival.
However, it is worth nothing that the 24-year-old has been the subject of some questionable transfer activity during his career, and it is likely that the leaking of Spurs’ “interest” is an attempt by the club to raise his value.
In 2013, Kokorin was sold to Anzhi Makhachakala for £12m, only to be bought back one month later without playing a game for an ‘undisclosed fee’.
He is yet to score more than ten league goals in a season since making his senior debut seven seasons ago.
