Soldado in Spain ahead of move

Roberto Soldado has travelled to Spain to finalize a move to Villarreal, Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed.

The £26m flop has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane all summer, and the Spurs’ boss has finally admitted the former Valencia and Real Madrid man is on his way back to La Liga.

“It is true that the club has given him permission to go to Spain,” Pochettino said.

The 30-year-old joined Spurs in 2013 but failed to live-up up to his goalscorer reputation, returning just eight goals in 51 league appearances.

He had been linked with a move to Europa League champions Sevilla, but now looks set for a £10m cut-price move to Estadio El Madrigal.

Meanwhile, Pochettino has also confirmed that Emmanuel Adebayor and Aaron Lennon remain surpless to requirements, despite neither being able to complete moves elsewhere as of yet.

Togo international Adebayor looked set to join Aston Villa, but a deal could not be agreed, whilst there has been little interest in winger Lennon, who spent last year on loan at Everton.

“I’ve expalined this before. He (Adebayor) is not in my plans. He knows,” said Pochettino.

“From the end of last season, we spoke with him, with Aaron Lennon, and it’s all clear. There is nothing to say that is different.”
