Tottenham want to boost their attacking options by signing QPR’s Charlie Austin.
The Championship club have already admitted they are powerless to prevent the striker from returning to the Premier League, and according to The Mirror, Maurico Pochettino wants to make White Hart Lane his new home.
Newcastle, West Ham and Leicester are all interested in the 26-year-old, but Pochettino is hoping that the club’s relationship with R’s boss Chris Ramsey and Director of Football Les Ferdinand will swing the pendulum in his favour.
The Argentinian is also willing to throw in a loanee to sweeten the deal, with the former Saints boss desperate to strengthen his strikeforce amidst the imminent departures of Emmanuel Adebayor or Roberto Soldado.
Attempts to bring Saido Berahino to the club failed after Tony Pulis demanded double what Spurs were prepared to offer, but Daniel Levy is confident of striking a deal for Austin with Ramsey – who used to be a coach at White Hart Lane.
The former Hungerford Town and Poole Town player scored 18 goals in the Premier League last season, but his efforts were not enough to prevent QPR get relegated.
Despite that, Austin was called-up to Roy Hodgson’s England squad at the end of the season for fixtures against Republic of Ireland and Slovenia, but he did not feature in either match.
