Lucas Bergvall has asked to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, forcing Spurs into a fresh transfer decision while the midfielder is away with Sweden at the 2026 World Cup.
The 20-year-old is seeking a clearer first-team pathway after a difficult end to the season under Roberto De Zerbi. Tottenham are now reported to have set their valuation at around £45m, according to a fresh update from the Evening Standard.
Bergvall remains a Tottenham player and is under a long-term deal, but the timing of the request makes this a sharp early test of Spurs’ summer rebuild. He is currently with Sweden at the World Cup and has already featured from the bench in their group campaign.
Why Tottenham face a difficult Bergvall call
For Tottenham, the issue is not simply whether a young midfielder wants more minutes. Bergvall was signed as a high-upside talent and his technical profile still fits the idea of a younger, more dynamic Spurs squad.
The complication is that De Zerbi is trying to reshape the midfield quickly, with Spurs already linked with senior options. If Bergvall feels blocked now, Tottenham must decide whether to hold firm, demand a premium fee, or risk unsettling a player whose value is still built on potential.
A £45m stance would at least make clear that Spurs do not view this as a cheap exit. The next move is whether interest from England or Europe turns a request into a real negotiation.
