Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly exploring a surprise summer move for Marcus Rashford, with Manchester United facing renewed uncertainty over the England forward’s future.
The 28-year-old is away with England at the 2026 World Cup, but his club situation has quickly become one of the more intriguing Premier League transfer lines of the window. According to a fresh report from The Sun, Spurs are interested in Rashford but are not currently prepared to meet the £40million release clause attached to a possible exit from Old Trafford.
The report adds that Tottenham would instead look to negotiate below that figure, with Roberto De Zerbi keen to add proven Premier League quality to his attacking group.
Why Rashford’s Tottenham link matters
For Spurs, the attraction is obvious. Rashford can play from the left or through the middle, carries top-level domestic experience, and would give De Zerbi another direct runner in a squad already being reshaped for the new campaign.
For United, the timing is awkward. Rashford’s preference and price point will shape whether this becomes a serious negotiation or simply another early-window enquiry. The clause detail also matters because Tottenham appear to have room to test the market without being forced into a fixed-price deal immediately.
No agreement has been reported, and Rashford remains a Manchester United player. But with Spurs now named as an interested club, this is a transfer line Tottenham supporters will be watching closely once England’s World Cup commitments allow the player’s future to move back into focus.
