At a glance:
- Lucas Bergvall doesn’t want to leave Tottenham
- Chelsea and Aston Villa want Swedish midfielder
- Bergvall’s decision dependent on Premier League survival
Lucas Bergvall has endured an injury-laden campaign, which is true for most of the Tottenham squad as they find themselves battling to avoid the drop.
With just four games to go for the Premier League season to end, Roberto De Zerbi’s side are in the bottom three, two points below 17th-placed West Ham United.
Sunday’s win against Wolves would have given Tottenham a lot of hope. However, there is still a mountain to climb to avoid relegation as teams around them are in good form.
If they drop down to the Championship, several key players could be on their way out of the club.
For Bergvall, however, his intentions are very clear.
Lucas Bergvall wants Tottenham stay
The Swedish midfielder started as a No.10 in De Zerbi’s first game in charge of the club and flattered to deceive.
Bergvall has featured as a second-half substitute against Brighton and Wolves and is expected to be a key player for the club.

And now, Football Insider report that he wants to remain at Tottenham, as long as they remain in the Premier League.
Chelsea and Aston Villa are interested in signing the midfielder, who signed a long-term deal until 2031 last summer.
Sources close to Football Insider have provided their in-depth thoughts on the matter.
“They (Tottenham) really wouldn’t want to see Bergvall move to some of their rivals in Chelsea or Aston Villa.
“With Tottenham, all the focus is on staying in the Premier League, as then they won’t have to bat off this interest in some of their players.
“If they do suffer relegation, it’s going to be a real battle to keep hold of some of their best players, and Bergvall, I’m sure, will attract a lot of interest.
“But I think right now he’s under a long-term contract and it does seem Bergvall is happy at Tottenham and will be happy to stay if they do secure Premier League survival.”
Tottenham must retain Bergvall at all costs
To put it bluntly, Tottenham can’t afford to lose young players like Bergvall and Archie Gray, among others.

They are rough diamonds, but could become world-beaters in the future.
Besides, it would set a horrible precedent and dent their youth strategy, which has worked quite well for them over the years.
However, one thing Tottenham shouldn’t do is use Bergvall as a No.10 as that is a position that really doesn’t suit his skillset.
