It’s not “Spursy”, it’s just the way it is.

It’s not “Spursy”, it’s just the way it is.

As I sit here and write this on transfer deadline day it appears we’re being linked to every Tom, Dick and Moussa that are unwanted, available and overpriced.

And isn’t this just the Tottenham way? I won’t call it “Spursy” because I hate that word as it just boils down all the stress and strain we go through into one throwaway comment. I’m sure there are other clubs going through the same thing and some have it worse but the press seem to love fixating on us, linking us to player like Coric or Isco that could really make a difference and then, on the final day, making it seem as though Moussa Sissoko is the best we could hope to get.

Screw that. We don’t need a player that picks and chooses which matches they’re going to really show up in. We need someone that will buy into MoPo’s philosophy and get ready for the hard work that’s coming his way.

Let’s not buy into the crap that the media feed us, let’s use some critical thinking and analyse these potential deals.

We want to finalise the N’Koudou deal, suddenly we’re linked with Zaha and have apparently made a lowball offer way below anything Crystal Palace were likely to expect. Do we really think we were going to get Zaha for half of his likely market price or do we think that this was giving Marseille a giddy’up to try to push the move through? No doubt GKN is sick of it as well, hence his social media posts over the last few days.

We want to bring in a creative attacking midfielder. Coric might be keen and Isco can’t make his mind up between Tottenham and Malaga. Look at those two players, then compare them to Sissoko. Bit of a difference right? Do we seriously think that the man at the top has idientified a need for a playmaker that can drop a bit deeper, spot a pass and is swift of foot, then pick out Sissoko as a realistic option? No chance. Everton is the more likely destination and I’ve got my fingers crossed that’s where he ends up.

The media will toy with us, Spurs will make us wish for more (don’t they always) but at the end of today we’ll get what we get and that will be it until January.

Let’s just hope we have a nice surprise by the end of the day.
