White Hart Lane is set to have it’s capacity reduced by up to 8,000 next season, as Spurs continue to progress with the building work on the new stadium.
The Times report that in Tottenham’s final season at White Hart Lane, the majority of the Paxton Road stand is set to be demolished in order to facilitate the continuing building work.
It would mean that the capacity of White Hart Lane would drop below 30,000, which is set to cause problems as demand for tickets is always high and with Spurs set to be playing in the Champions League next season, it could mean that thousands of Tottenham fans miss out on seeing the Lilywhites play in their final season at White Hart Lane.
Progress on the new stadium has been incredibly quick since construction work began, with the potential closure of the Paxton Road End showing how far the project has progressed. The new stadium is still set to open for the start of the 2018-2019 season, with Spurs being forced to play their ‘home’ fixtures at a different venue in the 2017-2018 season.
