Former Spurs striker Peter Crouch was full of praise for Harry Kane, after Kane scored two past Crouch’s current club, Stoke City, on Monday night.
Crouch, who had two spells at White Hart Lane (1998-2000 and 2009-2011), praised Kane after the Tottenham academy graduate bagged his 23rd and 24th goals of the season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Crouch said:
He was training with us when I was there and I got on really well with him,
He’s a great lad and he deserves everything he is getting now because he is a great lad and a fantastic player. He has just come on so much. I remember when I was at Spurs and he was basically just breaking through.
He was a goalscorer, you could tell that, but he is a top-class centre-forward now.
Kane’s first goal at the Britannia on Monday was a fantastic finish, after he curled the ball past Shay Given after cutting in from the left-hand side.
Crouch was also amazed by the goal, saying:
His goal against us, the first one, was incredible and every time he gets near the goal he is a threat, isn’t he? You feel like he is going to score.
Crouch also insisted that Kane has every attribute needed to become an all-round forward and he was also of the belief that Kane can lead the line for both Tottenham and England for many years to come.
I think he is a clever player and he has got two good feet. I think he has got everything, really, that you need as a centre forward.
I remember Tim [Sherwood, former Spurs manager] and Les [Ferdinand, coach] working very, very hard with him at his game.
He is the type of lad that will listen and take that on board, and he has become a top, top quality player for Spurs and for England as well.
Kane and Spurs face West Brom at White Hart Lane on Monday, 24 hours after Leicester play Swansea and Pochettino’s side will be hoping to keep up the pressure on the Premier League leaders.
