Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier was delighted to make his first Premier League start in the win over Watford and admits he initially found life very difficult at White Hart Lane.
The right back signed for Spurs in the summer from Burnley, following an impressive campaign for The Clarets in the top flight last season, despite their relegation.
However, the 25-year-old has found himself unable to usurp Kyle Walker as Tottenham’s first choice right back, finding himself restricted to cup and Europa League appearances.
Monday’s game allowed Trippier the chance to prove himself to Mauricio Pochettino and despite a difficult start, provided the assist for Heung-Min Son to score the winner before the 90-minute mark.

Speaking after the match about his performance, Trippier said, according to The Guardian: “I’m delighted to get my first start.
“It was important, we came [to Watford] to get the three points, which we did. Playing against 10 men isn’t easy but we got the three points.
“I’m not playing every week but I try to do well every day in training and impress.
“The manager believed in me to play and give a good performance, and the most important thing is we got the three points and it’s pushed us further up the table.
“It was a bit difficult at the start, moving down here, but all the lads, the staff, the people around made me feel so welcome and I’m adapting quickly to the style of play of the players here and what the manager needs of me.
“All I can do is give my best when I’m called upon.”
