U21s arrive in France for tournament

Ugo Ehiogu’s Under-21 side arrived in France on Thursday afternoon ahead of the start of the National Under-21 Tournament in Ploufragan.

The team have been placed in Group A and will face three french teams over Friday and Saturday, before the latter stages of the competition commence on Sunday.

Friday will see the young Spurs face Stade Rennais at 10am and then SM Caen at 5:15pm, before concluding the group with a match against Guingamp at 11:15am on Saturday.

West Brom and Anderlecht aswell as French sides Marseille and Lorient are the potential opponents that await from Group B on Sunday.

Ehiogu will want to do better than last year, when his side finished bottom of the group before losing 1-0 to Auxerre in the 7th/8th place play-off match.

Many of the players involved in the four-day trip were part of the Spurs XI that lost 3-2 at Peterborough United last weekend, including goalscorers Shayon Harrison and Ismail Azzaoui.

The team start their Barclays U21 Premier league season with the visit of Everton on Monday August 10.

Travelling Squad: Amos, Azzaoui, Ball, Carter-Vickers, Goddard, Hall, Harrison, Maghoma, McEvoy, Oduwa, Ogilve, Sonupe, Sterling, Veljkovic, Walker-Peters, Walkes
