# Tottenham dealt massive blow in race for €100m Arsenal target

**Tottenham Hotspur splashed the cash in the summer transfer window with ten new signings.**

Roberto De Zerbi appeared to overhaul his squad after narrowly avoiding relegation last season.

However, they are expected to be active in the upcoming transfer windows as they still have a few gaping holes to fill.

In recent weeks, Pedro Porro has been linked with a Tottenham departure amid interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

And now, it appears as if Tottenham have identified his potential successor, although it remains an uphill battle to secure his signature.

## Tottenham keeping a close eye on **Xavi Espart**

[Caught Offside](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2026/10/18/sources-arsenal-tottenham-scout-19-year-old-wonderkid/) report that both Arsenal and Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Barcelona’s Xavi Espart.

The youngster is one of La Masia’s brightest prospects and has been tipped to achieve big things for club and country.

However, the report also confirms that Barcelona want to tie him down to a new deal with a release clause of around €100m, which would make any potential transfer almost impossible.

Espart is an exciting talent, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to see clubs circling for him.

However, the aforementioned fee could prove to be prohibitive, that is if Tottenham convince him to swap Spain for England in the first place.
