# ‘Obviously’ – Tottenham told they were better than Liverpool despite being 1-0 down

**Tottenham are currently 1-0 down at halftime against Liverpool in what has been an entertaining game of Carabao Cup football at Anfield so far.**

Roberto De Zerbi made a raft of changes to his squad, with players on the fringes all getting rare starts.

The Lilywhites started the better of the two teams and should have gone ahead through Lucas Bergvall, whose close-range effort was brilliantly saved by Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Liverpool took the lead through Alexis Mac Allister after the Argentine midfielder thundered the ball home from close range.

And Michael Bridge feels Tottenham were the better team overall in the first half despite Liverpool being ahead.

## Michael Bridge happy with Tottenham performance

“I think De Zerbi’s side have created several opportunities and had most of the possession,” said Brown via the [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/live/cm5ye2vg83q7t).

“So obviously, other than the goal, Spurs have had a good amount of opportunities and really should be winning the game.”

We can’t disagree with that as Tottenham have actually played quite well, especially on the counter-attack.

Iraola's changes have injected some freshness. Mamardashvili at his best to deny Bergvall early on & then Kudos missed a sitter. Koumas went close to extending the hosts' lead

Both Bergvall and Mohammed Kudus had brilliant chances to score, but it just wasn’t to be as Tottenham’s woes in front of goal continue.

Hopefully things turn around in the second half…
