# Tottenham dealt massive Cody Gakpo blow – it’s completely self-inflicted

**Tottenham Hotspur have completed a medical for Savinho and remain locked in talks to sign Omar Marmoush.**

However, it looks like Roberto De Zerbi and co may not be done yet this summer.

The impending signings of Marmoush and Savinho will take their summer spending to nearly £400m, making it the most expensive summer in their history.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for [Cody Gakpo](https://readtottenham.com/tag/cody-gakpo/), who is willing to move to North London if the two clubs agree a fee.

But now, reports from the Netherlands claim Manchester City have entered the race to secure his signature.

## Manchester City want Tottenham target Cody Gakpo

Now, this story kind of writes itself.

The Lilywhites remain in talks to sign two attacking players from Manchester City, which has led to the Cityzens’ interest in signing Gakpo.

According to [Mounir Boualin of Soccer News NL](https://www.soccernews.nl/news/tottenham-bereidt-nieuw-bod-op-gakpo-voor-manchester-city-loert-mee/), Enzo Maresca’s side have told Gakpo that they want him this summer, while Tottenham, for their part, are preparing another offer.

Manchester City will have a lot of money after sanctioning the sales of Rodri, Tijani Reijnders, Savinho, Marmoush and potentially Nico Gonzalez, so they could well blow Tottenham out of the water.

A lot could happen between now and the end of the summer, but for now, Manchester City’s interest has been confirmed, which is surely a body blow for Tottenham.
