# Tottenham plotting shock move for World Cup winner and he wants to leave

**Tottenham are running out of time to sign new players as we edge closer to deadline day.**

After signing six new players at the start of the transfer window, they appear to have run out of steam on the incomings front as the focus has shifted to outgoings.

The likes of Cristian Romero and Djed Spence left the club last week, while Guglielmo Vicario’s loan move to Juventus was confirmed earlier today.

Tottenham are set to start with Antonin Kinsky between the sticks, with Martin Dubravka to deputise for him.

Despite that, a rather strange report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/aston-villa/sources-tottenham-make-move-to-sign-emiliano-martinez) claims that the Lilywhites want to sign Emi Martinez this summer.

## Tottenham want to sign Emi Martinez

Martinez has wanted to leave Aston Villa for the last two transfer windows but a move hasn’t come to fruition.

Unai Emery’s side are set to sign Zion Suzuki from Parma and the Japanese goalkeeper is set to start as Villa’s first-choice goalkeeper, putting Martinez in a precarious position.

The Argentine World Cup winner was linked with a move to Juventus, but they have now decided to sign Vicario.

And strangely, Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Martinez, with the aforementioned source also confirming that Villa are open to a sale.

Our opinion: this is such a strange link and we can file it in the ‘not happening’ category. Tottenham don’t need another goalkeeper as they’ve backed Kinsky for the long haul.

And a goalkeeper is the last player they’d want to sign between now and the end of the transfer window as they continue to scour the market for attacking players.
