# What Manchester City sources are now saying about Tottenham’s Savinho pursuit

**Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Savinho has gone on for well over a year now.**

The Lilywhites tried to sign him last season under Thomas Frank, but Pep Guardiola vetoed the move.

And now, [Manchester City value Savinho at around £65m](https://readtottenham.com/2026/08/10/advancing-tottenham-make-breakthrough-in-race-for-65m-attacker/), a fee Tottenham have thus far been unwilling to pay.

And now, [The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7503457/2026/08/11/enzo-fernandez-transfer-latest-chelsea-manchester-city-arsenal-liverpool-man-utd-dealsheet/?source=user_shared_article&smid=ta-ios-share) have published an update on their deal sheet, which adds an interesting bit of detail.

## Manchester City eyeing Savinho’s replacement

If Savinho is indeed sold to Tottenham, City need to replace him.

And if reports are to be believed, their search has proved to be unsuccessful so far, as they believe there aren’t many suitable options in the market.

An excerpt from the article reads: “Manchester City are looking for wingers, especially in case Savinho joins Tottenham, but have found there are not many suitable options.

“The club passed on Yan Diomande earlier in the window due to wage demands, and while they like Pedro Neto, Man City sources insist they have not made contact.”

City sources also deny links with Pedro Neto, who was widely seen as Savinho’s heir, having also worked together with Enzo Maresca before.

This reads like bad news for Tottenham as if the Cityzens don’t see a player worthy enough in the market, it’s hard to see them parting with Savinho unless he really agitates for a transfer.
