# ‘Advancing’ – Tottenham make breakthrough in race for £65m attacker

**Tottenham Hotspur will sign an attacking player or two before the transfer deadline.**

In fact, that’s the only area where they are currently lacking, as Roberto De Zerbi has done incredibly well to bolster his backline and midfield so far this summer.

[Tottenham have been locked in talks to sign Savinho](https://readtottenham.com/2026/08/04/fabrizio-romano-tottenham-savinho-transfer-request-manchester-city/) from Manchester City without a big breakthrough for a number of weeks.

Now, however, reports from England suggest they will get the deal over the line.

## Tottenham expect to sign Savinho

Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider has revealed that the Brazilian is expected to make a move to North London as the two sides continue to negotiate terms.

[Savinho is valued at £65m by Manchester City](https://readtottenham.com/2026/08/04/fabrizio-romano-tottenham-savinho-transfer-request-manchester-city/) and has featured in each of their pre-season games under Enzo Maresca so far.

“Tottenham are advancing in talks with Man City over a deal to sign Savinho, with a deal set to be completed before the window closes,” said O’Rourke on Football Insider via [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/tottenham-hotspur/spurs-nearing-full-man-city-agreement-sign-savinho-personal-terms-done).

“Tottenham are now close to sealing full agreement for Savinho. I think it’s getting there. It’s been ongoing for a number of weeks and months now.

“We know Tottenham’s interest is there; they’re long-term admirers of Savinho and Roberto De Zerbi has admitted they are looking to make further attacking signings in this window if possible.

“Savinho is a top target for them. Talks have been ongoing with Manchester City. The expectation is that this deal probably will get done before the close of the window, with Savinho making the move to north London.”

Judging by the reporting, personal terms will not be an issue and the two sides are close to agreeing a fee, which is actually a massive breakthrough considering the deal has hit a bit of a standstill in recent weeks.
