# ‘Not ready’ – David Ornstein confirms massive Tottenham transfer blow

**Tottenham Hotspur are currently locked in talks to offload a handful of players.**

Mason Melia has joined Lincoln City on loan, while [Mikey Moore is close to moving to FC Koln](https://readtottenham.com/2026/08/05/tottenham-transfer-news-moore-melia-koln-lincoln-city/).

[Ashley Phillips’ move to Middlesbrough on a permanent deal is also set to be confirmed imminently](https://readtottenham.com/2026/08/06/medical-today-journalist-confirms-tottenham-have-sold-player-for-10x-profit/), while the likes of Luka Vuskovic, Alfie Devine, Will Lankshear, Alejo Veliz and Yves Bissouma have already left the club, among others.

[Manor Solomon was linked with a move to West Ham United](https://readtottenham.com/2026/08/04/tottenham-transfer-news-solomon-wanted-hull-west-ham/) and is high on the list of players Tottenham want to offload.

[We relayed claims earlier today that the Hammers have pulled the plug on the deal to sign Solomon](https://readtottenham.com/2026/08/06/off-tottenham-transfer-falls-through-due-to-last-minute-change-of-heart/) due to backlash from their fans.

And now, [David Ornstein of The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7488787/2026/08/06/manor-solomon-west-ham-tottenham/) has also confirmed that the deal is off for the time being, although it’s due to financial reasons.

## Manor Solomon to remain at Tottenham for now

Ornstein is as reliable as it gets, so it appears as if West Ham are not willing to pay Tottenham’s asking price for the attacker.

An excerpt from Ornstein’s piece reads: “Negotiations between West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur over Manor Solomon are currently off for financial reasons.

“West Ham, relegated to the Championship on the final day of last season, are looking to pay in the region of £5m ($6.7m) for the winger but are not ready to agree to the bonuses Spurs would want should the east London club secure a return to the Premier League.”

The report also mentions interest from Fiorentina – where Solomon was on loan last season – but the Serie A side are also unwilling to meet the asking price.

This is a blow for Tottenham as the former Fulham man has no future at the club despite featuring regularly in pre-season, so it’s best for all parties involved to go their separate ways.
