# “Tottenham’s treasure” – These Spurs fans sing the praises of Lloris

“Tottenham’s treasure” – A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans are praising [Hugo Lloris’ performance](https://hotspurhq.com/2019/08/18/hugo-lloris-shines-in-tottenham-player-ratings-against-city/2/) on Saturday from the [2-2 draw](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49384811) with Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Frenchman was kept rather busy all afternoon as City peppered his goal with [30 shots](https://www.espn.com/soccer/matchstats?gameId=541832) – [ten](https://www.espn.com/soccer/matchstats?gameId=541832) of which were on target.

Lloris, however, could do nothing about Gabriel Jesus’ ghost winner that [VAR disallowed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxmZuJBB2HQ) for handball.

Though the decision benefitted his team, Lloris looked [somewhat baffled](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7367477/Hugo-Lloris-admits-did-not-expect-VAR-rule-Gabriel-Jesus-strike-against-Spurs.html) and explained in his [post-match interview](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7367477/Hugo-Lloris-admits-did-not-expect-VAR-rule-Gabriel-Jesus-strike-against-Spurs.html) that he did not understand why the goal did not count.

The 32-year-old though made some [superb saves](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxmZuJBB2HQ) to deny[Rodri](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxmZuJBB2HQ) and [Oleksandr Zinchenko](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxmZuJBB2HQ) but he did almost gift City a goal.

The former Lyon man[flapped](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxmZuJBB2HQ) at a corner, and Bernardo Silva lobbed him, only to see the ball [rebound off the bar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxmZuJBB2HQ) and drop into Lloris’ gloves.

Despite this dodgy moment, a lot of Tottenham fans were delighted with Lloris’ performance.

> MVP of the game. He had a busy day getting shelled by City. May need new gloves after that one.

These Spurs fans believe that Lloris was the [Man of the Match](https://hotspurhq.com/2019/08/18/hugo-lloris-shines-in-tottenham-player-ratings-against-city/) after a series of excellent saves denied Manchester City.

Other Tottenham fans just love the fact Lloris is their captain and were pleased with his interview.
