# Giovani Lo Celso could be perfect replacement for Christian Eriksen

Tottenham Hotspur have supposedly wanted to sign [Giovani Lo Celso](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/08/07/tottenham-hotspur-make-fresh-giovani-lo-celso-bid-real-betis/) all summer – and they have submitted an offer of around[60m Euros](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/08/07/tottenham-hotspur-make-fresh-giovani-lo-celso-bid-real-betis/) to get their man.

However, If they want to seal Lo Celso’s signature, they will have to move quickly – as the transfer window closes at[5 pm](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48965845) on Thursday.

Spurs could see Christian Eriksen leave before then as well – as he eyes up a move [to Spain](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/08/07/manchester-united-cool-interest-christian-eriksen-tottenham/), with [Atletico Madrid](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/08/07/tottenham-held-talks-atletico-madrid-sale-christian-eriksen/) said to be interested.

Should Eriksen leave, 23-year-old Lo Celso could be the perfect replacement for the Dane.

Last season Eriksen [scored ten goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/profil/spieler/69633) and provided [17 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/profil/spieler/69633) in all competitions – as Spurs narrowly missed out on the[Champions League](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tottenhams-champions-league-final-loss-16261646) trophy.

This result caused Eriksen to state he wanted to leave Tottenham for a [new challenge](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jun/05/tottenham-christian-eriksen-says-he-is-ready-for-a-new-challenge) – and Spurs have been trying to find a [replacement](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1162227/Tottenham-transfer-news-Mauricio-Pochettino-Glenn-Hoddle) all summer.

Lo Celso could prove to be that man they have so desperately wanted because the Argentine can [operate anywhere](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/giovani-lo-celso/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/348795) in midfield, but he is particularly brilliant as a[number ten](https://www.esdfanalysis.com/player-analysis/giovani-lo-celso/).

Starting him behind Harry Kane could turn into one of the deadliest partnerships in the league.

This is because Lo Celso is a [superb dribbler](https://www.esdfanalysis.com/player-analysis/giovani-lo-celso/) of the ball – and his [darting runs](https://www.esdfanalysis.com/player-analysis/giovani-lo-celso/) could cause havoc amongst any Premier League defence.

Last season Lo Celso proved to be better at scoring goals than assisting them – as he [bagged 16](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/giovani-lo-celso/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/348795) and provided [six assists,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/giovani-lo-celso/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/348795) as Real Betis finished in [tenth place](https://www.google.co.uk/search?source=hp&ei=aO9KXcSrJdPggwf2rZCYCw&q=la+liga+table&oq=La+L&gs_l=psy-ab.1.1.35i39l2j0i67l2j0i20i263j0l2j0i20i263j0l2.580.2895..4366...2.0..0.153.793.3j4......0....1..gws-wiz.....0..0i131j0i131i67j0i10.FRRRQH23FBE).

Eriksen in his time at Spurs has provided[more assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/69633) than he [has scored](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/69633) – so a serious goal threat from midfield would take a significant burden off [Harry Kane](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/top-scorers) and [Heung Min Son](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/top-scorers).

These two [both scored](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/top-scorers) a lot of goals for Spurs last year – and they could do with some help.

Lo Celso could provide that support – and if Spurs were to sign him, it would be a [huge statement](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-tottenham-to-offer-100m-for-player-in-combined-fee-wages/) of intent.
