# Tottenham close in on move for Ryan Sessegnon – he’d be a great signing

Tottenham have supposedly had an eye on Ryan Sessegnon for at [least two years](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/08/15/tottenham-hotspur-have-25m-bid-fulham-prodigy-ryan-sessegnon/) now, but with less than two days to go in the [transfer window](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48965845), it looks like they will [finally sign him](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11778004/tottenham-in-ryan-sessegnon-talks-with-fulham).

Sky Sports are reporting that an agreement with [Fulham is close](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11778004/tottenham-in-ryan-sessegnon-talks-with-fulham) – and Sessegnon will finally move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

At just 19 the London-born player has a [long and exciting](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/) career ahead of him – and what better place to develop as a footballer than under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine has established a reputation for [developing payers](https://leadersinsport.com/performance/mauricio-pochettino/) and making them better – so Sessegnon would be in the right place to fulfil his [undoubted potential](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/).

Last season was[tough](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/) for the 19-year-old – as his side struggled all season badly and they were ultimately [relegated](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/apr/02/fulham-relegated-from-premier-league-watford-match-report).

Playing in a team [lacking confidence](https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-soccer-england-wat-ful-preview/fulham-low-on-confidence-as-relegation-beckons-says-parker-idUKKCN1RD2I2) meant that Sessegnon could not show what he was capable of doing – though he did manage to [score twice](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/) and provide[six assists](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/).

In 2017/18 Sessegnon won the [Championship Player](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/) of the Year – as he scored a [superb 16 goals](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/) and provided a further[eight assists](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/).

It is this form that Pochettino should be able to [coax out](https://leadersinsport.com/performance/mauricio-pochettino/) of him – and that is why he would be a great addition for Spurs.

Another reason is that he can play anywhere on the left-hand side – having made [48 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-sessegnon/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/392775) as a left-back[42 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-sessegnon/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/392775) as a left-midfielder and [20 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-sessegnon/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/392775) as a left-winger.

This [versatility](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/) and his [pure pace](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/) would him make him a great asset to Pochettino’s side.

If Tottenham do finally sign Sessegnon, then they may well have one of England’s most [exceptional young talents](https://footballbh.net/2019/07/20/ryan-sessegnon-2018-19-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/) in their squad.
