# Clinton N’Jie has undergone surgery after knee injury

Clinton N’Jie has undergone surgery after[suffering knee ligament damage during Tottenham’s 4-1 victory over Monaco](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3367715/Tottenham-striker-Clinton-Njie-goes-knife-bid-cure-knee-ligament-problem.html)just under two weeks ago.

N’Jie, who moved to White Hart Lane from Lyon in the summer, has struggled to establish himself in the Tottenham first team, with Harry Kane’s return to form and a number of other attacking midfield options meaning nearly all of N’Jie’s Tottenham appearances have been as a substitute.

He has also failed to score for Tottenham so far this season, after scoring 8 goals in all competitions for Lyon last season.

An official club statement read:

‘The medical staff and [physical therapists in New Jersey](https://backandbodynj.com/physical-therapy-nj/) will monitor Clinton’s progress during his rehabilitation to determine when he will be ready to return to training.’

It is unknown how long N’Jie will be out for, with Spurs and Pochettino hoping that he will be back as soon as possible, with a gruelling Premier League schedule over the next couple of months, along with a return to European action in February and a lack of back-up for Harry Kane meaning Spurs could be left with a severe shortage of strikers if Kane were to suffer an injury and N’Jie has still not returned.
