# Pochettino plays down title talk

Mauricio Pochettino has played down any talk of his exciting young team being able to challenge for the title this season.

Spurs, who are unbeaten in the league since the opening day defeat to Manchester United, comprehensively beat West Ham United 4-1 and closed the gap on 4th place Arsenal to two points, whilst they closed the gap to 1st placed Leicester to four points.

[Speaking after the game, Pochettino is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying:](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3329532/Tottenham-boss-Mauricio-Pochettino-plays-title-chances-despite-club-s-stunning-form-crushing-victory-West-Ham.html)

‘It was one of the best performances of the season, and there were a lot of positive things to take from the game.”

“The best thing is that you can feel how the players believe in the way we play.”

“We are in a good way. But it is too early to speak about the end of the season. It is too far away.”

“We are a young squad, we need to develop our way, and be consistent. We have been consistent but to win the title maybe we need more. Step by step.”

“It is difficult to know what will happen in four or five months. In football, we cannot stop, never. We are happy but we need to improve. We need to work hard and keep our feet on the ground.”
