# What happened when Liverpool last visited White Hart Lane?

When the Premier League resumes this weekend after the international break, Spurs will face a Liverpool side under their new manager Jurgen Klopp at White Hart Lane after Brendan Rodgers was dismissed from his post at the beginning of the international break.

It’s almost a complete reversal from when this fixture was played just over a year ago, when Mauricio Pochettino was the new manager in the respective technical areas with Brendan Rodgers entering his third season as manager of Liverpool and this game was in fact, his 100th as boss of Liverpool.

Tottenham went into the match after winning the first two league games of Pochettino’s reign, whilst Liverpool who had finished the previous season as runners-up had struggled to beat Southampton at home before being comprehensively beat by Manchester City away.

However, this game went against the early season form-book as Liverpool with then new signing Mario Balotelli completely outplayed a Spurs team high on confidence by a scoreline of 0-3. Raheem Sterling, Steven Gerrard and Alberto Moreno all scored and therefore, gave the reds a reason to go back home happy with themselves.

If Mauricio Pochettino was under any doubt how much of a job he had with making Spurs into genuine top four contenders, then this game showed how much of a job he had on his hands.

It’s quite telling in fact, that of the 18 selected either in the first XI or on the subs bench, six have since left the club:

KABOUL- Sold to Sunderland

CAPOUE- Sold to Watford

ADEBAYOR- Released

CHIRICHES- Sold to Napoli

HOLTBY- Sold to Hamburg

FRIEDEL- Retired

It’s fair to say that Tottenham have come a long way in just over a year, including a certain Harry Kane who was unused substitute on that sunny August afternoon.
