Alderweireld was substituted against Real Madrid as he limped off the pitch with a hamstring injury in the first half, although it was not thought as being as serious as it has turned out to be.
The central defender sat out the last two Spurs matches and was omitted from the Belgian squad during the international break.
Tottenham face Arsenal in the North London derby this weekend, with Alderweireld a big loss for Pochettino’s side.
This comes as a big blow to Tottenham, as they look to mount a push for the Premier League title this season.
