Premier League top scorer and Tottenham Hotspur talisman is reportedly a doubt for the weekend’s crucial game against Manchester United.
When Spurs took on West Ham United in the Carabao Cup at Wembley on Wednesday night, Kane was absent from the squad; it had been assumed that manager Mauricio Pochettino was simply resting his star striker ahead of the weekend’s big game.
However, the Argentine manager was unable to offer any assurances over Kane’s fitness when asked after the defeat to West Ham if the striker would return at Old Trafford (via the Daily Star):
“We’ll see, we’ll see”, said Pochettino.
We need to assess the team because we were forced to rotate for different reasons and we’ll see what happens in the next few days
Kane is currently top of the Premier League goal scoring charts by a single goal, with eight, whilst Sergio Aguero of Manchester City and Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku have both found the back of the net seven times.
City’s Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus are both on six goals, as is Chelsea new boy Alvaro Morata; so Kane will not want to be missing games as there is plenty of competition for the Golden Boot this season.
