German loan move for Wimmer nearly complete
According to reports, Kevin Wimmer is set to move on loan back to FC Köln of the Bundesliga.
The German club hope to complete the deal by the end of the weekend after losing Mergim Mavraj to Bundesliga rival Hamburger SV.
While it was rumoured that Wolfsburg were interested in Wimmer, their desire to complete a permanent move allowed FC Köln to take the lead in negotiations.
The Austrian international will hope to see more minutes back at the club where he made 67 appearances before earning his move to Tottenham.
Since switching to the North London club at the beginning of last season, Wimmer has only made eleven appearances in the Premier League.
With Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose, and Kyle Walker forming one of the most consistent back fours in the Premier League, Wimmer’s opportunities at White Hart Lane appear to be limited this season, prompting the loan decision.
