Spurs winger Erik Lamela has insisted that Tottenham have the quality in their squad to continue their Premier League title hunt.
Lamela started in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday, which moved the Lilywhites into second place and five points behind league leaders Leicester City.
Speaking after the game against Watford, Lamela spoke to the Daily Mail, saying:
‘We are second now, we keep moving on in the table so that is good,’ Lamela said.
‘We keep winning which is very important for us, but the next one at Manchester City is more important now.
‘I hope we can beat them but we expect a difficult game. Every game is difficult, every game is important, so we need to keep training to give the maximum next week.’
‘For me, I feel confident and I am training hard like my team-mates. Everyone trains hard to do their best on the pitch and I think this team is a very good team because we have quality and we are all together to fight.’
Lamela and Spurs travel to the Etihad on Sunday to take on Manchester City in a game which could decide which team finishes higher at the end of the season, with Spurs currently holding a one point advantage over the blue half of Manchester.
Lamela has himself been enjoying his best season in a Spurs shirt to date since joining from Roma in 2013 and will be hoping to continue his good form against Manchester City on Sunday.
