U21 stars join Rangers on loan
Youngsters Nathan Oduwa and Dominic Ball have completed loan moves to Rangers.
The duo have agreed one-year loan moves to the Scottish Championship side, who are now managed by Mark Warburton, but the former Brentford boss failed in an attempt to sign Harry Winks too.
Oduwa – who is an England U19 international – was said to be interesting a number of teams including Eredivise sides AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, but the Gers’ manager has exercised his strong relationship with Spurs having successfully developed Alex Pritchard at Griffin Park last season.
Warburton’s ties did not go as far enough to bring Winks north of the border too, however, with Spurs holding out for a move at a higher level after the 19-year-old broke into the first-team last year.
Rangers were invited to train at the club over the summer and played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against a young Spurs XI, and the Warburton had been interested in the trio ever since.
An avid Spurs fan – he led Brentford to the play-offs last season with Spurs youngster Alex Pritchard playing a crucial part in their efforts making 45 appearances and scoring 12 goals.
The 22-year-old’s form at Griffin Park earnt him a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the UEFA European U21 Championships, and Oduwa and Ball will be hoping for a similair effect on their careers.
Both are already capped for England’s youth teams, with Oduwa having reached as far as the U18s whilst Ball has played for the U19s.
